| | CLOUDED APOLLO Parnassius mnemosyne
Without red pattern, 45-60 millimetres Wingspread, wing tips often translucent, as with other Apollo species.
Forage Plants: members of the Corydalis family. Found in the Alps, the
Ticino region and in the vicinity of Schaffhausen, mostly between 800
and 1300 metres above sea level, but also in lower and higher regions.
As the forage plant of the caterpillar is to be found in the forest,
yet the full-grown butterfly prefers meadows with many flowers, the
clouded Apollo requires densely structured landscapes, where it will
find both woods and open landscape close together. Therefore it has a
preference for traditional, semi-open farming and forestry landscapes.
